Your pound goes to the the beach cleaning and life guarding at Watergate
Bay.
The WET Trust (Watergate Environmental Tourism Trust) used to be responsible
for both of these things but were severely hit two years ago when their
main source of income was slashed when the council decided to take back
the grass carpark at Watergate with less than a month's warning.
Since then, businesses around Watergate Bay met up to discuss how we could help to keep up the good work that the Trust implemented. We each decided on various ways that would each suit our business. The Visitor Payback scheme was perfect for Pendoric.
We (Elliot & I) will also be doing our bit for the beach as we have pledged £350 a year towards keeping it clean and safe. We will cover any shortfall in monies donated by our guests and also take part in voluntary beach cleaning days. When you visit Watergate, you will see how the local businesses and how you, the tourist are helping to keep Watergate bay a clean, pristine and safe beach for all of us to enjoy year after year.
The WET Trust was responsible for:
* The wildlife information boards.
* Road widening at Watergate.
* Telegraph poles.
* A recycling scheme and landscaping the stream area.
* £15,000 of funds towards the lifeguard patrol of the beach.
Thank you for your understanding.
